There’s always someone eager to warn you off.

“Don’t work with daemons, they lie.”

“That wasn’t really Hekate. It was something pretending to be her.”

“If you call on spirits, how do you know what you’re getting?”

When I first began my journey, it was via psychic abilities. Then the fearmongering came out of the woodwork. Lordy. And it was those same phrases. A few kept quoting bible verses at me, and saying it was the “devil” trying to trick and deceived me.

It’s always the same tone: condescending concern that’s cosplaying as spiritual wisdom. As if you can’t possibly tell the difference between a parasite and a presence. As if discernment is some rare skill reserved only for the gatekeepers, the ones who write the books, run the forums, and host the sanitized rituals. But it’s not discernment they’re teaching. It’s fear. And fear always serves the system.

They rarely say this out loud, but the subtext is clear: you’re too dumb to know who answered. Too spiritually underdeveloped to tell if your ritual worked. They think you’re too psychically naïve to trust your own senses.

Folks, don’t buy it. Especially if it’s coming from anyone with a religious intent. (And I count Wiccan here)

When I call a being—spirit, god, daemon, or ship—I know who answered. Not because they showed up in a puff of incense and a name tag, but because frequency doesn’t lie. Presence has a signature. Every ISBE, every vessel, every daemon, carries a tone in the field. A pressure, a taste. And when you’ve made contact once, you can tell when it’s the same being again. And you can tell when it’s not.
